Technical Education Curricula for Health and Safety (TECHS) is an educational intervention conducted by researchers from HealthPartners Institute in partnership with three vocational colleges in Minnesota: Hennepin Technical College, St. Cloud Technical & Community College, and Ridgewater College. TECHS is funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

The goal of the study is to evaluate the impact of a comprehensive safety and health curriculum delivered systematically throughout a 2-year program, on students’ health and safety knowledge, skills, and work practices at graduation and one year afterwards. Study activities were designed specifically for: instructors (training, consultation and feed-back), students (pre- and post- testing), and graduates (1-year post graduation surveys). The curricula was implemented during three academic years: 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018. Follow-up activities with program graduates were conducted in June 2016,  2017, 2018 and 2019.
